On Saturday afternoon we attended a first birthday party in Omaha for the daughter of one of my best friends. Her parents live in Colorado so it was super fun to be able to see them for a while as well. I would love to have them move back to the area so we could spend more time together with our kiddos!
Saturday night I got a little sewing lesson from my good friend Laura. I had a project I had found on Puking Pastilles for a SUPER CUTE SUPER HERO cape. My little super hero is going to LOVE it for his Superman birthday in a few weeks. I desperatly wanted a sewing maching about 2 years ago (Thanks, mom) and it still sits in its box (Sorry, mom). I had some great idea that I was going to start sewing these darling purses and selling them. Well, let me just say that never happened. Apparently, you have to know how to sew in order to make purses. So, anywho... I purchased my supplies and headed over to Laura's so she could help me. (of course I asked her to help me first, I didn't just show up ready to make my cape with my bag of cape making supplies). We had so much fun and I am so proud of the cape. B is going to LOVE it! It is reversable Superman/ Batman, which he is really into right now. Laura did some of the work but was great about showing me how to do it myself. Thank you so much for helping make a handmade gift!
Sunday morning when B woke up, he immediately wanted to go outside becuase we had our FIRST SNOWFALL OF THE YEAR!!! It was not much, but stuck around for most of the morning anyways before it melted away. He was so excited to go outside so after a quick bowl of Captain Crunch we headed out. Once hubby joined us outside a little later, the two of them ended up getting the sled out and pulling around in the yard a bit. All of the neighbor kids had their sleds out too, but trust me, it wasn't that deep! It's always fun to get a bit of snow, but the older I get, the more I get tired of the big snows that we can get sometimes here in Iowa that keep us inside for several days!
