Saturday Night Specials
Tonight we headed to Hy-Vee grocery store for a little Saturday night family fun. We had dinner and then got some much needed groceries. Being the witty couple that Hubby and I are, we are always looking for things that make us laugh.
Hubby spotted this little number.... who actually gets lines in their hair anymore? And this guy was like upper 40s. This was cool like over 20 years ago. dude.
My friend Monica loves these cookies and since we were in the "gettin' silly at the grocery store on a Saturday night with our camera" mode, we had to take a picture for her.
We had so many groceries in our first cart that Hubby had to go get a new cart. This is what him and B came back with. Just the dinkiest little cart you ever did see. B enjoyed his silly ride in the top.
All of this made for a night of fun and a total of over $300 in groceries. Gotta love that.

Strike!
Last Friday we took B to the local bowling lanes for his first real bowling experience. He had wanted to go for a while and we decided late in the afternoon to spend a little family time together with this new activity. Yes, he is using a *pink* ball, it was the only 4lbs one they had.

Post Christmas Family Fun
On Friday we had the opportunity to attend "Frosty the Snowman" at the Rose Theater in downtown Omaha. The seats were all general admission so we were able to sit in the front row on the side. The Rose is such a beautiful place and I was excited to see how B would do at his first play. In the lobby they were selling treat bags for $3 that included a kalidescope, colors, magnet, treat, and a juice.

The weather had been perfect, hard to believe for the days after Christmas.

After the play we stopped for some Italian Nachos at Old Chicago in the Old Market. Next we took at carriage ride around the Gene Lehey Mall to see all of the lights. This was our first carriage ride and B was so excited to ride after he had seen the horses on Thanksgiving Night when we came to the Holiday Lights lighting ceremony. With the great weather we had that night, it was perfect for a ride.

This picture is funny because B was throwing a FIT and didn't want to stand there because he said there was poop on the ground. Hubby just happened to catch him between screams or something after I lifted him up because he definately did not look like this!

To end the night as we were walking back to our car we stopped in at the Thomas D. Mangelsen gallery where they have the most awesome nature photography.

Keg Creek Days
On August 23rd, we attended Keg Creek Days in our community. Keg Creek Days is held at the Glenwood Lake Park and is a 2 day event. The day starts on Saturday with entertainment, bingo, sidewalk parade, baby contest and other fun things. There is also a pancake breakfast, pie baking contest and auction, tractor show, and pedal pull. The museum and Earth Lodge are also open during this time. B has wanted to visit the Earth lodge for some time now when we drive by. He was excited to be able to go inside of it. Last year B entered the sidewalk parade with his tricycle decorated in the "Black and Gold" catergory. He won his first trophy and received first place in his age group. This year he rode his bike and entered the "Red, White, and Blue" catergory. He won first place again this year.
Last year B was crowned "Prince of Keg Creek" and rode in the homecoming parade with the princess. This year, I was in charge of coordinating the judges for the contest and B passed out the trophys to this years winners.

** And as you can tell in the pictures, he got his face painted with Batman!
Labor Day Picnic

Well, it wasn't Labor Day technically, but yesterday we had a great picnic at Bayliss Park. We had to run up to Council Bluffs to pick something up and didn't really have any other plans for the day. B really likes fountains and Bayliss has a beautiful one, so I had the idea of grabbing a sandwich at one of my favorites, Jimmy Johns, and having ourselves a little picnic. B was so exicted to be going on a picnic. I had planned on that we could just sit at a picnic table, but of course he wanted to sit in the grass in true picnic style form. Hubby usually always keeps this old blanket in the back of his blazer, so we were able to do this.
The weather was perfect and there was such a good breeze. After eating our sandwich and chips, we laid down on the blanket and relaxed and acted silly for a bit. When we picked up our picnic area, we walked around the park to get a close up look at the fountain. They also have some statues of Black Squirrels, which are popular in Council Bluffs, a play area for kids to get wet, and some silly brick paths that B loved running on like he was a train on a track.
It was such a nice day to chill out like this and we had such a good time doing something so simple. I hope you enjoy your Labor Day as much and get to relax with the ones you love!
