Thankful #3

I am thankful for my mom who raised myself and my brother and sister. Now that I am a parent, I have a better understanding of what it would be like to be a single parent. I can't imagine doing it by myself and not having anyone on my team! My mom worked hard to give us everything she could and always tried her best with us. Thanks for loving us mom!

Cake Lovin'

One of the hobbies I have that I do in my "spare" time, ha ha, is that I do cake decorating. This weekend I did a Mickey Mouse for a home party for one of our daycare tots who was turning 2. Today I made a yellow duck for us to celebrate his day here at the Tot Spot tomorrow. Two weeks ago we had another Tot who turned 2 and I made a princess crown cake for her day. BTW- this photo shows the cake before the doggie got on the table and helped herself to a serving of cake during naptime. We also made pipe cleaner princess tiaras from the tutorial that Nikki has at WhiMSy Love. These were so easy to make and the girls were just adorable in them. I also made a cute little buggy shower cake that someone ordered.

Halloween Fun

The Tot Spot Daycare has a parade every year for Halloween. This consists of putting on our costumes and walking around town. Sometimes we have friends that join us, but usually it is just me and the tots. This year however, we had to have 3 parades! We had one on Thursday afternoon, one on Friday AM, and one on Friday PM. I had different tots during each of those times and I couldn't let someone miss out on the parade! What makes me laugh is that the kids get excited for the "parade" when it is really just a walk. When we call it a parade and have our costumes on, they just think it is the coolest thing. The weather here the past few days has been just amazing. I even saw some people in shorts who were out walking!!! The smell of fall and the colors of the leaves is beautiful. The night was perfect for Trick-or-Treating.

B's costume was Super Why! (Wyatt) from the PBS kids television station. Super Why has the Power to READ! I am happy to say that once again this year, we did not see another costume like the one he had on!

We also took our annual Halloween family photo with our carved pumpkins. Hubby and I have been taking our picture with our carved pumpkins since we started dating. This year we did the Little Einsteins for our pumpkins. The stencil kit came in The Pumpkin Patch Puzzle book. We did the 4 Einsteins and Rocket. They were so cute the night we did them but they didn't really last long. Some parts on the faces really got yucky fast.



And yes, we could only find one shoe for B when we went outside to take this picture while we had someone to take it for us!!!

Thankful #2

Last night I had the opportunity to go to a movie with a few friends. Hubby was away doing a little duck hunting and I needed a babysitter for B for a short while during the overlap time of both of us being gone. I called my grandma. She was going to watch B. Then I thought that I should just take B out to hubby's mom's house since that is by where he was hunting. She said she would watch him. Then hubby's aunt stopped by and wanted to take B to Pizza Hut to eat with her family. That is what he ended up doing and he had a great time. So today I am thankful for all of the family who lives close to us and is always more than willing to watch B when we need a babysitter. Fortunately, we have never needed a "real" babysitter since we have such amazing family. Thank you family- for all you do for us!

Thankful #1

Happy November! I am so thankful for the family that I have. My hubby and B are the most important things in my life. They make me so happy and I cherish each day I have with them. We have so much fun together and make each other laugh every day. They are my world. What are you most thankful about? Enjoy a picture of us on Thanksgiving night last year at the Holiday Lights Festival in Omaha.

Today I stumbled on a cute little blog. I just love finding new blogs that I enjoy reading and adding them to my google reader. My friend Laura, introduced me to the google reader this summer and I don't know what I did without it.
