The laundry did not fold itself...

Before I left to go to our Mom's Night Out I carried all of our clean clothes upstairs and put them on the couch. We have gotten a bit behind due to me not feeling well, then B, then me again this week plus being out of town last weekend for the State Tournament. Hubby was also gone Wed- Sun so there were all of his clothes to wash from that trip as well. I have most of it caught up, but there were several baskets that needed folded.
When I came home from bowling with the girls... it had not folded itself unfortunately. Apparently, no one else saw the piles because even Clifford the was able to find her spot on the couch.

Through My Lens Photo Project - Part 2

Monday is the first day of the Through My Lens Project on Jenny's blog. I had such a great time last time, I am going to have to join in again. Here are the themes for this next week:

Monday (3/2) ~ Something that inspires/motivates you
Tuesday (3/3) ~ Something that irritates you
Wednesday (3/4) ~ Where you relax
Thursday (3/5) ~ a 'must have' item of yours
Friday (3/6) ~ Your favorite...(anything!)

It was super neat-o to see what everyone else was posting each day. Join us this time and let's see what you got!

Just in case you need one more...

While I was out tonight my hubby searched the internet to find this SNL skit that one of the daycare mama's was telling us about. When she came to pick up her son after school, we had the first one playing and the kids were all gettin' down. She told us about this one that had been on this weekend and that is was very funny. **once again, don't forget to mute the blog music at the bottom of the page before hitting play!

My boys going to eat dinner at Pizza Hut while I get ready to go to a Mom's Night Out with my MOPS group.

Some funny friday ****

Love this song... it is my current ring tone on my cell phone. Everytime my phone rings B and I both break into dance mode. We do this mostly so hubby can laugh at us and roll his eyes! B goes around the house singing parts of this song and it just cracks me up. Last night I was doing some catching up on one of my favorite blogs, Mama's Losin' It when I came across this video. LOVE IT. So funny. I might watch it every day just to make myself laugh. I hope you enjoy it as much as I do... especially you hubby!

Don't forget to go to the bottom of the page and mute the blog music before pressing play... and then CRANK IT UP AND GET YOUR DANCE ON! ITS FRIDAY PEOPLE!

MOPS Valentine Party

Valentine's morning we had a party with our MOPS group for Valentine's Day. Our creative activities gal, Tara, did a great job getting the party together for the kids and their families.

I have to throw this picture of me in looking hot in my scarf for Valentine's Day. Don't forget 2009 is the year of the scarf!

There were several stations that the kids could visit to do activities. We started with the cookie decorating (of course!). There was also neclace making, door hanger decorating, picture frame decorating, card stamping, and Valentine page coloring activities.

Our little ol' snowman

We have wanted to make a snowman this year but have not been able to get out during the "right" kind of snow. Last week when we got about 6 inches, we tried to go out that very first day, hoping it would be good for building a snowman. It was not wet enough and we were only able to pat together a little snow mound. B had been wanting to use an ice cream cone for a nose all winter, and we could hardly even get it to stay stuck in the snow. I'm done with winter though, so if this is all we get for a snowman this year, it is fine with me!

Yippiee! Through Your Lens~ Part 2 AND PHOTO FRIDAY

Get your cameras ready and join in at Jenny's site Through Jenny's Lens for another super fun photo challenge. I really enjoyed finding the photos in each catergory last time and sharing them here. One of the best parts was visiting the other blogs of people who were participating and seeing what they were sharing. I would love it if you would participate with us. Hop on over to her site and check out the assignment!

Watching the balloons lift off at the National Balloon Classic in Indianola. A favorite of ours to do in the summer.

Cake Lovin'

I had an order for a 40th birthday cake for a friend. Her husband is restoring a 1969 Chevelle and we *tried* to do our best to get a pattern I could use to put this on the cake. I don't know how much it resembles the Chevelle, but I still think it turned out cute. He likes Nascar so this is why we used the checkered flag border. I was a little rushed making the cupcakes so they did not turn out how I had envisioned, but they still looked okay.

Valentine's Party

We had our Valentine's Party on Monday ( a little late I know, but we needed to wait for a day with all our kids at daycare)
Silly Valentine Guys
The kids decorated their own bags to hold their Valentines in. We used stickers, foam stickers, markers, and stamps to make them pretty
I had seen so many cute mailboxes from the dollar bin at Target on different blogs that were decorated, but I ended up just putting some glitter initial stickers on the front and a few foam hearts on the sides. They had some Valentine surprises from me inside for their treats.
The bags behind the mailboxes were from one of the moms for the kids that she made. She always has some crafty bags for holidays for the kids.

B decorated our cake the night before. The balloons are left over from the party at preschool that one of the party planners gave me to use for our party.
Instead of candy I made brownies and cut them out with my heart cookie cutter. I frosted them with pink frosting and sprinkled them before I wrapped them in plastic for them to take home.
B ended up getting sick during the party so he was either laying in my bed or on the couch during party time.

Park

Thursday was such a beautiful day. I had attended the funeral of a dear best friend's father and had taken the day off. I had taken the day off to go in the morning and went to B's preschool Valentine party in the afternoon. On the way home, I was thinking of how nice it was that there were still a few hours of daylight left that I could have on the beautiful blue sky day to play with my son on his own. As we were driving home passed the park, he asked if we could go play. I had things that needed to be done, but when I thought about how nice the sky looked and thought about the forcast for the next day (6 in. of snow!) I said sure. We went home to change our clothes and drove back over to the park. We did the slides, bridge, swings, and he enjoyed playing in the fresh air as much as I enjoyed watching him. There were people walking their dogs around the lake or jogging, but we had the play areas to ourself.

Worth Reading

I think I have mentioned before that I love to read. At night when hubby is watching tv, I love to lay in bed and read my book and enjoy the peace and quiet. There are many nights also when he watches tv in bed and then goes to bed and I just keep on reading.... staying up way later than I had planned or needed to! I have recently finished two books:
The Yada Yada Prayer Group by Neta Jackson. This is book 1 in a series and I saw number 7 and 8 in the "New Arrivals" section at our library. I had not heard of the author or this series, but the thing that caught my eye was that it is marked "Party Edition- with celebrations and recipes". I am in a book club with my MOPS group, and a few months ago we read a book and our host made a recipe from the book. It was so fun to tie the food we had into our selection. I have already started book number 2 in the series and loved the cast of characters that meet at a Women of Faith conference.

Fireproof by Eric Wilson. There is somewhat of a hub-bub about this movie/ novel going around, but I had not heard it until recently. Someone at our MOPS meeting mentioned it and I had no idea what she was talking about. On Thursday I happened to be taking a relaxing visit through a book store (after attending a funeral in the am so I was kid FREE) and saw the book on sale. This story is about a firefighter whose marriage is falling apart and his fathers tells him about something called "The Love Dare". The message in the story is that you "never leave your partner" and strengthening your marriage. I finished this book in 2 settings, I loved it so much. I am excited to see the movie now! You can find more info on this here.

My HOT Valentine Date

By HOT I am meaning with a fever. B ended up sick on Saturday and we did not go to the wrestling tournament to watch Daddy's team and get to see who qualified for state this next week. We enjoyed a quiet day at home and made some heart shaped pizzas for dinner together. I cut out our pepperoni and canadian bacon using my little heart shaped cutter. We also had strawberry applesauce and B drank from his Valentine cup he got at his school party.

Zoo

Last Friday we had some great weather with temps in the 60's. I took that opportunity to get my daycare kiddos and B out for some fresh air. We hadn't been to the Henry Doorly Zoo for a while, so a trip was just what we needed.
We started at the Desert Dome. This is where B has wanted to start the past few times. I think it is because it is so ig and visible from the parking lot and he is always so excited to get there.

After the Desert, we went through the gorillas and orangatangs but I really don't like to put pics of kids on here who are not mine. So you get some cool animal photos instead. The aquarium was next up and we had just been learning about penguins so it was fun to see them again. They are always fun to watch as they dive and swim.

One of my new favorites is the Butterfly Pavilion. It is the newest addition to our great zoo. This time however, there were not as many as there has been the last few times.

The great thing about our zoo pass is that we can stop in for a few hours and get home before the kids get cranky and tired. We don't have to feel like we have to do the whole zoo in one day.

Thanks again Sandy! Love ya!

Strike!

Last Friday we took B to the local bowling lanes for his first real bowling experience. He had wanted to go for a while and we decided late in the afternoon to spend a little family time together with this new activity. Yes, he is using a *pink* ball, it was the only 4lbs one they had.
It was a great night to go, there were only 2 other people there bowling while we were there. We had some cheeseburgers, fries, and chicken strips and had a little dinner while bowling as well.

He was really getting into watching his ball roll down the lanes. It helped that we had the bumpers up (helped Matt and I that is!)

Like usual, B ended up laying on the lane watching his ball make it down to the pins. He has always loved laying on the floor/ ground.
